Preventive Dental Care

Teeth Cleanings

With regular teeth cleanings at our office, you can maintain great oral health and help fight cavities and gum disease. We will remove any plaque or tartar and then polish and floss your teeth. Routine visits are recommended twice a year. If you have not visited the dentist in a while, advanced care or deeper cleanings may be necessary.

Sealants

Dental sealants prevent plaque from accumulating in the grooves and pits on the surface of teeth. Cavities can occur when plaque is left there to destroy the tooth’s enamel. With a sealant as a barrier, teeth stay protected! While this treatment is mostly used with children, adults can benefit from it as well.

Oral Cancer Screenings

During these screenings, we look for common signs of oral cancer, including red or white spots, sores that bleed, and pain or tenderness in the mouth. If there are any suspicious lesions, we will send samples to a lab for analysis. The sooner we detect oral cancer, the sooner we can help you fight the disease and increase your chances of beating it!

Nightguards

Bruxism is a condition in which you grind or clench your teeth as you sleep. Many people don’t even know that they have the condition until their partner hears the grinding or a dentist notices the damage. We can create a custom nightguard to prevent tooth wear and eliminate headaches and soreness.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments have a higher concentration of fluoride than you would find in over-the-counter toothpastes or mouthwash. They help strengthen teeth’s enamel and fight plaque. These treatments are beneficial for both adults and children.

Restorative Dental Care

We provide scaling and root planing to non-surgically treat periodontal disease. This procedure is a type of deep cleaning where we remove plaque and tartar from around and under the gums. Dr. Hooks can also give you instructions for the best way to look after your gums at home to prevent your gum disease from becoming more serious.

Tooth-colored fillings are formally referred to as composite fillings. They look more natural, match your existing tooth color, and are often smaller/more conservative than silver fillings. We place fillings after removing decay from a tooth with a cavity to restore the tooth to its original shape and color.

Crowns, or caps as they are often called, cover the entire tooth and can restore a chipped or broken tooth. They can be taken care of just like your other teeth. Our office offers both traditional all-porcelain crowns as well as CEREC® one-visit crowns. Both are a more natural-looking option compared to crowns made entirely out of metal or a combination of metal and porcelain.

At Hooks Family Dentistry, we utilize cone beam computed tomography (or CBCT) for complex restorative procedures. With this type of highly detailed 3D imaging, we can more precisely plan treatments to give you more effective results. To learn more, visit our Dental Crowns page.

A dental bridge is a row of natural-looking, false teeth used to replace a gap made by missing teeth. The bridge is supported by crowns on the teeth on either side of the space. With a dental bridge, you’ll be able to restore your mouth to its full function.

Dentures are the most popular option for replacing some or all of your teeth. They are also more affordable than other restorative treatments. When you visit our practice, we ensure that your dentures look completely natural and feel comfortable and snug, so you can truly enjoy your new and improved smile. We also offer denture stabilization so that you can forego adhesives for dentures that stay in place by being attached to mini implants.

Dental implants have a very high success rate and many subsequent benefits that make them a top choice for both dentist and patients. Generally, an implant has threads like a screw and will be placed in the bone to act like the root of a tooth that was lost or extracted. A single crown can be placed on top to give a natural appearance, or an implant can be attached to a bridge, partial, or denture to retain replacement teeth. The nerve of a tooth can get infected or inflamed due to a deep cavity, crack, or other mouth trauma. If the nerve dies, a painful infection or toothache can occur. With root canal therapy, we remove the damaged nerve and vessels inside the tooth and then fill and seal the tooth from bacteria. Root canals may have gotten a bad rap over the years, but we assure you that advancements in dentistry and anesthetics have made the procedure more comfortable and more successful than ever.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Veneers

Dental veneers are a versatile treatment used in smile makeovers. They are actually thin porcelain covers that we bond, or “glue,” to your teeth. These porcelain sheets can repair a chipped tooth, reshape a tooth, cover discoloration, and close small gaps between teeth. Dr. Hooks will go over what it is that you would like to change about your smile to develop a custom veneers solution. To learn more, visit our Dental Veneers page.

Professional Teeth Whitening

For those looking for a simple way to boost their smile, we offer professional teeth whitening. Rather than sitting in our office for a whitening treatment, we can provide you with customized trays and professional-strength bleaching gel to allow you to whiten your smile from the comfort of your own home. The personalized fit allows the gel to sit comfortably on your teeth and produce more noticeable results than over-the-counter methods.

Orthodontics

Invisalign

Invisalign® is a revolutionary new way to straighten your teeth. We will give you sets of clear aligners that you wear for 20-22 hours per day for around two weeks each. These trays gently shift your teeth without any need for wires or brackets. The best part about Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible, making it so that many people won’t even realize you’re wearing them! On average, Invisalign treatment takes less than a year. To learn more, visit our Invisalign page!

Oral Surgery

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are actually your third set of molars. Getting your wisdom teeth removed is recommended when they are impacted (or tilted under your gum) or when they cannot come in properly because they are blocked by other teeth. When you do not take care of wisdom teeth that are coming in incorrectly, it can lead to cavities, gum disease, and crowding. Dr. Hooks can remove your wisdom teeth in a simple procedure at our office.

Emergency & Routine Extractions

Sometimes teeth need to be removed to correct crowding (which is when there is not enough room in your jaw for your teeth to fit). Other times, advanced decay or infection may call for a tooth being removed. We will do everything to first save your tooth, but if there are no other options left, then we can extract it in a routine procedure.

Bone Grafts

Bone grafting is a procedure used to restore your bone after damage from tooth loss, gum disease, or injury. It’s important to maintain bone health, because many restorative procedures need strong bone to be performed successfully. Also, if your bone has deteriorated, it can cause your face and cheeks to have a more sunken appearance.

Sedation Dentistry

Stress-Free Dentistry

If you struggle with dental anxiety, we offer sedation options to keep you at ease while you’re in the dental chair. Our goal is to provide those who dread going to the dentist with a solution for getting the care they need. Whether you need a routine cleaning or full-mouth rehabilitation, we can help you stay relaxed and comfortable throughout the duration of treatment.
